Attn Alief Alumni Community:

After being rejected by voters in a referendum Nov. 2,Houston's red light cameras are officially turned off. But ofcourse since this was a cash cow, both, for the city of Houston, and the contract company that installed the infrastructure around our neighborhoods, there is still more controversy surrounding the exit strategy.

As reported by Channel 11 News, City attorney David Feldman also announced Monday that the city was filing a civil lawsuit in federal district court against American Traffic Solutions, the cameras’ manufacturer. Essentially, the city is seeking a judgment on how much damages it needs to pay under the contract, which is set to expire in 2014.

So essentially, we have may have won the war...but depending on how the courts rule on this issue, we may have lost the battle.

Needless to say, Drive Safely Alief!!!
